FAQ
-
Do you offer a consultation?
Yes, we offer a free 20-30 minute consultation via phone or video chat, so you can get a sense of whether we are a good match. It is important to us that you find the therapist that is the best fit for you and your needs.
-
Do you accept insurance?
The practice currently doesn’t accept insurance directly. We are recognized as an out-of-network provider and can produce a master bill for you to submit to your own insurance for potential reimbursement pending details of your specific plan.
-
Do you have a cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy; clients missing a session within that window will be charged their full session fee. That policy is in place to protect our time and encourage consistency.
-
How do therapy sessions work?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, and most clients are seen on a weekly basis (more frequently when additional support is needed).
Appointment days/times are usually consistent week to week, however we understand schedules change and we make accommodations.
We are able to see clients via telehealth within the state of California. Additionally, we see clients at our office located in Brentwood.

What is an LMFT vs AMFT?
An LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) is a fully licensed mental health professional who has completed extensive education and clinical training in marriage and family therapy. LMFTs are licensed to independently diagnose and treat mental health conditions within individuals, couples, and families.
On the other hand, an AMFT (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist) is a clinical professional who has completed the necessary educational requirements to pursue licensure but is still in the process of gaining the required supervised experience. AMFTs work under the supervision of a licensed therapist as they continue to develop their clinical skills and fulfill the requirements for full licensure.
At Keren Givol Therapy & Associates all associates are supervised by Nikki Nary, LMFT.

Rates, Payment, and Good Faith Estimate
The rate will be discussed in the initial consultation. A reduced fee may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Payment is accepted via Credit Card.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. Since we will agree upon the fee and frequency prior to working together, you will be able to anticipate the total yearly cost of sessions. If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
